Job Crafting & How to do it?
My job crafting journey started in 2020 with the pandemic and i was asking myself whether i was actually happy or fake happy. So I sat down with a coach and tried to formulate what my unique skills and strengths were away from work because i was looking for more meaning and purpose (similar story to many in lockdown I think). Turned out that alot of my values were out of alignment from working in sales and that's why I was feeling stuck and languishing. So I decided to speak to my lead and let him know that I was looking to transition out of sales but I didn't have a clear idea of what that was but I knew i wanted to help people, make complicated things simple and I loved presenting. hE connected me with a bunch of people in Learning and development, leadership, onboarding and talent and I worked my way through 1-1s to try and understand if this was a team or person I was interested in. About 6-9 months later I was honing in on what my thing was and decided to put together a job description for a new role. I outlined my strengths, what I would bring to a new role and the gaps within the business that needed to be solved and after about 3 months (after doing a bunch of projects) I was transitioned into that role.
